Cameron to star in “The Box”

Great news – another new project for Cameron is in the works! Continue to read the article for more information about the movie The Box.

According to Variety.com, Media Rights Capital has set Cameron Diaz to star in “The Box,” a horror film to be directed by Richard Kelly.

Kelly wrote the script based on Richard Matheson short story “Button, Button.” The movie, set for a November start in Virginia, will aim for a PG-13 rating.

The story focuses on an unhappy married couple who receive a small wooden box on their doorstep. At the push of a button, the box brings its bearer instant wealth but also instantly kills someone the bearer doesn’t know. Different things will happen depending on which buttons she presses.

Media Rights Capital is committed to bankrolling the entire $30 million-plus budget, as it did with “Babel”.

“The storyline has all the commerciality of ‘The Ring,’ but with Richard and Cameron, this film can rise to the level of ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ and ‘The Others,’ ” said Modi Wiczyk, the former Endeavor agent who founded and runs MRC with Asif Satchu.

“My hope is to make a film that is incredibly suspenseful and broadly commercial, while still retaining my artistic sensibility,” Kelly said.

Cameron’s commitment-phobia

WENN reports that Cameron Diaz misses out on roles in big movies because she fears commitment. She hates making long-term plans and believes her problems stem from always getting her own way as a child.

She says, “There are a lot of great roles out there but you know my problem? I’m really bad at commitment. I just hate committing myself to anything. I’m terrible at making plans. I have no idea where I want to be. It’s probably comes from me being a total spoiled brat and always getting my own way.”

Cameron admits she can’t even invest her time in a pet: “I don’t even want a dog. My cat just died and I don’t want another cat. Oh god, I’ve just opened another friggin’ can of worms.”

Cameron in Peru

As you may have noticed, things have been a bit quiet on the site the past week. The reason for that is that I’ve been out of town working. I’m back now, and the frequent updates will continue. :) Cameron’s currently taking some time off from filming & promoting movies. She’s visiting Peru, and is supposed to stay there until June 26 (tomorrow). Here are some quotes from Living in Peru about her stay in the country.

Since her arrival to Velasco Astete Airport on June 19 Cameron’s been received with nothing but warm greetings and love.

On Wednesday, the Provincial Municipality of Cusco extended an invitation to the famous American actress to take part in all of the festivities, including Inti Raymi which is to be held on June 24 in Sacsayhuamán.
.
Accompanied by an Andean Priest, the Hollywood actress was happy to take part in a ritual which was to honor Pachamama or Mother Earth. The ritual took place yesterday at Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Park. The ceremony, which was filmed by Cameron’s crew, took place at the sacred Huaca de Luna.

Not only has Cameron taken part in several rituals but she has also been able to appreciate Peruvian craftsmanship. During her visit to Chincheros, she was fascinated by the natives extraordinary weaving techniques.

Even Mayoress Marina Sequeiros has gotten excited about the star’s visit. The Provincial Municipality is considering honoring Cameron as a “Special Guest” of the city. Authorities are still waiting on Cameron’s reply to their invitation for Diaz to take part in the Inti Raymi celebration.

Mayoress Sequeiros has stated “If she accepts the invitation we’ll take a moment to recognize and honor her visit to the city.” She has also said that they will ask for Cameron’s vote in the New 7 Wonders contest.

‘What Happens in Vegas’ update

According to Variety, What Happens in Vegas (starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher) got a new director. Continue to read to see what the article says.

Tom Vaughan has replaced Julian Farino as director of 20th Century Fox romantic comedy What Happens in Vegas, starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher.
Farino dropped off the project for scheduling reasons, and is now attached to helm Paramount and Plan B’s The Year of Living Biblically.

Vaughan will direct from a script by Dana Fox. Penn Station’s Dean Georgaris and Mosaic’s Michael Aguilar are producing for Fox.

Set in Sin City, storyline revolves around two strangers who wake up to discover they got married sometime during the previous night’s drunken festivities, with one of them winning a huge jackpot on the other’s quarter. The couple set out to undermine each other and claim the coin, only to fall in love along the way.
